Todd Alan Watson, 45, of Bergheim, Texas, passed away on the morning of Saturday, October 25, 2014, of a sudden heart attack while playing basketball with his longtime friends. The Nagel gym basketball buddies have all played together every Wednesday and Saturday for the past 20 years.
Todd was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on July 4, 1969, to Betsy Ann (Vande Perel) and Rodger Watson. His father, Rodger, preceded Todd in death also of a heart attack at age 45 in 1989.
Todd graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1988, where he played football, basketball, golf, and tennis. A huge Spartan fan, Todd graduated from Michigan State University in 1992, with a BA degree in Materials and Logistics Management.
Todd is survived by his mother, Betsy Ann Watson; and his wife of over 20 years, Kristin "Kristy" Jo (Sanderson) who he married on November 27, 1993, in Fremont, Michigan. Todd and Kristy first met on an MSU ski trip in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, in 1990.
Todd enjoyed living on his small ranch in Bergheim, Texas, surrounded by his horses, llamas, dogs and cats. His hobbies included home brewing beer, grilling barbecue, playing 1860 vintage baseball and his favorite sport, basketball. He was a gentle soul that people admired for his easy temperament, fun-loving attitude, and joking sense of humor.
Todd's work career began in Texas, in 1992, at the Gambrinus Company (importer of Corona and Shiner Bock). He and Kristy started Polonyx, a Graphic Design firm, 1996. In 2002, Todd and Kristy received a patent for a urethane horseshoe called Ground Control Horseshoes, made in Boerne and sold worldwide. Todd worked as an Industrial Engineer for UPS for 5 years, then at Petco as an Industrial Engineer for the last 3 years.
A celebration of Todd's life will take place at Random Beer Garden, located by Boerne Lake at 11 Upper Cibolo Creek Road, at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. An additional gathering will take place in Michigan for friends and family in the spring of 2015.
