Obituary:

Nathan Ray Prieto, born October 3, 1963, embraced God on June 18, 2014, in Boerne, Texas, at the age of 50. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Juanita Sanchez and Eustolia Trujillo. He is survived by his wife, Christine; children, Adriel Garrett and Christin Delenn; his parents, Salvador Prieto, Maria Inez and Randy Hines; and his siblings, Adam Prieto and Norma A. Martinez.

Born and raised in San Antonio, Nathan graduated with a BS in Psychology from Texas A&I Kingsville and then completed 3 and a half years in the US Army finishing out his tour as a Captain. He moved to Boerne with his family in 1999, which has been his home for the last fourteen years.

Nathan loved his God, family, fishing and soccer. He worked at the Audie Murphy Veteran's Hospital in San Antonio for twenty-four years. He also loved his job and co-workers and serving US veterans. He was always helping others, going the extra mile to get things done. He made an amazing impact on everyone he met.

Nathan and Christine team taught Sunday school at FBC for eight years and were involved in the Boerne Soccer Club for as long. His love for Christ and for helping people succeed was evident in both.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Maranatha Christian Academy - a ministry of Maranatha Bible Church, 7855 E Loop 1604 N., Converse, Texas, 78109. 210-821-LOVE(210-821-5683). Every dime received goes directly to the children in Uganda.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. A celebration of Nathan's life will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at Nineteen:Ten Church in Boerne. Please wear bright colors or your favorite team jersey to honor Nathan.
