Wesley Ray Tucker returned home to his Lord and Savior on June 2, 2014. He passed at home surrounded by family and friends after a brief but valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was 66 years old.
Wesley was born in San Gabriel, CA on April 25, 1948, to parents Ordie Ray and Betty (Haynes) Tucker. He is predeceased by both.
Wesley is survived by wife Karen S. Hogg of Boerne, daughter Laura and son-in-law Dana Rhoten of Dallas, daughter Kimberly Tucker of Dallas, granddaughter Lexi Anne Rhoten of Dallas, brother David Tucker of Stephenville, nephew Chris Hogg and wife Cyndi, nephew Travis Hogg, and great niece Kristen Hogg. He also has two step-granddaughters, Ashley Morrow and Michelle Rhoten of Clear Lake.
Wesley grew up on a dairy farm in De Leon, Texas. He was a graduate of De Leon High School in 1966 where he played Center and was named unanimous All District. He continued to follow Bearcat football all his life.
He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1971 with a degree in Business Administration. His career with Continental Insurance Company started in Dallas, then took him to Houston, San Antonio, Chicago, and ultimately to New York City where he met Karen at a TTU alumni party.
He was Vice President responsible for the Midwest, and an officer of the Continental organization. He traveled internationally with his work and always enjoyed the camaraderie and teamwork of his professional life. Continental became CNA Insurance in 1999, and he continued as an officer of CNA. He retired in 2002.
Wesley loved history and was an avid neumismatist. He also collected political memorabilia, arrowheads, and items that helped create our nation and way of life. He was an interesting conversationalist, and loved social venues. A quick wit and dry humorist, he was quite an entertaining man.
During his employment in the New York area, he and Karen lived in Maplewood, NJ. They belonged to the Maplewood Club, and enjoyed Lake Naomi Club in Pocono Pines, PA where they had a vacation home. Life was good in Maplewood and the Poconos.
Wesley and Karen moved to Boerne, TX in 2003. They are members of the First United Methodist Church in Boerne, and support Boerne Community Theatre and other local arts organizations. Wesley was especially supportive of the Christian Appalachian Project, and the National Parks Conservation Association.

Wesley loved flowers and would love their essence at his service. It seems, however, that the Hill Country deer love them even more. Flowers would be appreciated, but also donations to the Christian Appalachian Project in Wesley's name would help feed Americans rather than deer! Donations can be sent to Christian Appalachian Project, P.O. Box 55911, Lexington, KY 40555-5911.
