Ronald Edward Tibbett passed away in Boerne on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the age of 81. He was born in San Antonio to Otis and Helen Tibbett on October 16, 1932.
Ronald is survived by his son Jim Tibbett and wife Barbara; his daughter Mary Helen Sibley and husband Randy; and his grandchildren: Seth Sibley, Kate Sibley, Kevin Reid Tibbett, Shawna Rinche, Rhonda Gigliotti and husband Billy, and LeAnn Sibley. He was blessed with twelve great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Ann Tibbett and his parents Otis and Helen Tibbett.
Ronald was raised in Freer, Texas, in the Humble Oil Camp. He attended A & I University in Kingsville, Texas, where he played football for the A& I Javalinas. Ronald married Mary Ann Ledlow on June 13, 1953, while they were both attending A & I. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. He worked in the oil fields in south Texas while attending college and afterwards moved to work offshore in Louisiana. He left the oil field business to move to Cotulla, Texas, to teach. After spending one year in Cotulla, he moved to Boerne. Ronald served in the Boerne Independent School District for thirty years as a coach, teacher, and Vice Principal. He was a member of the Kendall County Masonic Lodge and was very active in the Kendall County Jr. Livestock Association and Boerne Berges Fest. While teaching, he raised a variety of animals including race horses, mules, and cattle. He moved from Boerne to the family ranch in Waring in 1969. Ronald and Ann were married 56 years before she passed away in 2009.
Ronald was a wonderful and admired teacher. He was a loyal friend and an honest man. He loved to "Horse Trade." He loved music and was a great dancer. He was a faithful husband and his love for his children and grandchildren was unconditional and never-ending.
The family would like to thank the Cibolo Creek Nursing Home staff and River City Hospice for the loving and compassionate care given to Mr. Tibbett and the family. A special thank you goes to Patty Palomo for the ten years she took care of Ann and Ronald.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Boerne Cemetery. The pallbearers will be C.A. Schwope, Richard Sill, Randall Rust, George Schwope, Robin Scheel, J.J. McAnear, Gary Hohmann, and Gavin Waldeck. The honorary pallbearers are Bo McAnear, Gayle Haass, Arley Sultenfuss, Riley Jennings, John C. Kercheville, Richard Saur, Patty Palomo, and Clay Sumerour. A reception will follow at Waring Hall, 205 AVE C, Waring, TX 78074. Desserts are appreciated and it is BYOB.
