Obituary:

Sharon Settles DeBerry, born March 18, 1941, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, departed this world for a better world on March 19, 2014. She was a devoted, caring, and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She was a caregiver deluxe, having taken care of many friends and family members. She was an eleven year resident of Boerne and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a great cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her huge family, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

One thing she loved was living in the beautiful hill country and feeding the deer. She was determined to get at least one to eat from her hand. She got within inches, but never all the way.

At Christmas time, she enjoyed sharing her good fortune with those less fortunate by giving away pint jars full of change to the homeless. She even had her children and grandchildren doing the same. She never tired of helping the down and out. She touched many lives and we were all better off for having known her.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dale DeBerry Sr. of Boerne; her five children: Curtis DeBerry (Kathy) of Boerne, Tommy Chase (Nancy) of Kennewick, Washington, Hal DeBerry (Jenny) of McAllen, Dale DeBerry, Jr. (Patty) of Boerne, and Debbie DeBerry (Marrianne DeLeon) of Austin; her four stepchildren, Stacey Turner (Alan) of Plano, Kimberly Martin (Larry) of San Antonio, David DeBerry (Suzanne) of McAllen, Michael DeBerry (Irmgard) of McAllen; twenty grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and also her sister-in-law, Gwen Settles of Boerne.

Visitation is Friday, March 21, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. The funeral is Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Boerne with interment following at Mission Park North.
