Obituary:

Born into a large family in Johnston, South Carolina, Wallace Wright was the fifth of seven children born to Luther and Sarah Kathleen Wright. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Sally Nelson Wright; their three children: Wendy (Art) VanDivier of Boerne, Russell (Miranda) Wright of Wills Point, Texas, and Todd (Angela) Wright of Dallas; grandchildren: Erik (Vanessa) VanDivier, Bryan (Jenny) VanDivier, Matthew VanDivier, Hannah VanDivier, Sara VanDivier, Keith Wright, Virginia Wright, Logan Wright, Lauren Wright, Rachel Wright; and great granddaughter, Olive VanDivier. Also left to cherish his memory are his sister Margie Smith and brother John Wright of Atlanta, Georgia along with numerous extended family members.

Wallace was a graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He served with the United States Air Force as a Captain during the Korean War. Following his military service, Wallace attended law school at the University of South Carolina where he graduated with honors. He entered into law practice with the U.S. Department of Justice and then the Internal Revenue Service before entering private practice with Jones Day where he spent more than 25 years.

Wallace was a man of patience, wit, and boundless generosity for whom family came first. He was a blessing to all those fortunate enough to know him and call him husband, Dad, brother, Granddaddy, and friend.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Wallace M. Wright, Class of 1949 to Wofford College at 429 N. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to Alzheimer's Disease Research at 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
