Obituary:

Valerie "June" (Cunningham) Newton passed away in Boerne on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at the age of 88. She was born in Dallas on November 21, 1925, to Valery and Ethel Cunningham. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Johnny Cunningham and Hal Cunningham; and her husband of 53 years, Frank E. Newton.

June loved animals to the point of rescuing hurt and injured animals off busy highways. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and really any activity that took her outside. Traveling with her mother and sister JoAnn to East Texas was an annual event which created many wonderful memories. In her later years, she became the unofficial taxi driver for several of her friends ensuring they made it to doctor appointments, HEB, or anywhere else they needed to go. June was a member of the Church of Christ her whole life. She was an honorable Christian woman with a kind heart and contagious smile that touched everyone she met.

June is survived by her five children: John Newton and wife Chris of New Braunfels; Carolyn Manrique and husband Richard of Mansfield; Mary Carter and husband Jim of Boerne; Nancy Hollingsworth and husband Keith of Grand Prairie; and Frank E.
