Obituary:

Edna Chipman Penick passed away after a valiant fight against cancer on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was born in Bandera on September 4, 1932, to Charles and Martha Chipman. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother and four of her sisters; and her former husband and father of her children, Ferrell Pipkin.

Edna was a hard-working mother of six who went above and beyond to take care of her family. She preferred playing with her young children to doing the household chores. Edna was constantly on the go. She loved flowers, animals, and anything pink. She really liked to go dancing in her pink cowboy boots. Edna worked as a nurse's aide and then went back to school in her late 50's to earn her GED. After that, she became the head of housekeeping at the VA Hospital. Edna's family was her most prized possession and she was happiest when she was with her family.

Edna is survived by her husband of 11 years, Vernon Penick of Sulphur, OK; her children: Eddie Pipkin and wife Laura Jo of Boerne, Kathy Clark and husband Johnny of Boerne, Betty Grisham of Kerrville, Jerry Roy Pipkin of Bandera, Danny Pipkin and wife Lisa of Boerne, and Larry Pipkin and wife Heather of Camp Verde; her sister, Florence Singlton of San Antonio; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Edna was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
