Alton H. Schneider was born in San Antonio on April 10, 1938, to Louis Schneider and Lucy Ida White Schneider who both precede him in death. Alton died the morning of January 1, 2013, at his home on his beloved Ring Mountain Ranch which has been in his family since 1874.

Alton graduated from Comfort High School in 1956. He was in the US Army for the following four years at Ft. Polk, LA and Camp Leonardwood, MO. He married Rose-Marie Bartel, also from Comfort, in March of 1960. He was a full time rancher and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Alton was a loving husband, father, and Opa. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Alton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose-Marie; his three daughters, Nancy Marie High and husband Russell of Sweetwater, Rae Lynn Reinecke and her husband Rudi of McKinney, and Dr. Vickie Ann Stuart and her husband Justin of The Woodlands; his grandchildren Kaitlyn High, Gunnar Reinecke , and Meredith and Reese Stuart; and his sister-in-law and her husband, Janet and Duan Packard, Jr. of Kerrville.

A visitation will be held Friday, January 4, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held at the ranch.
