Anthony Joseph Santos died on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at the age of 86. He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on March 16, 1926, to Jordan J. Santos and Caroline Mello.
Anthony had a 20 year career in the US Navy and served in the Pacific maritime war theater in WWII and in the Korean War. His decorations included the Silver Star, Bronze Star with cluster, and many campaign medals. He was named Sailor of the Year in 1960. After his career in the service, he worked for Boeing for 25 years as a hydraulic engineer. His love of mathematics led to his involvement in the study of statistics and probability.
Anthony is preceded in death by his mother, his father, his two sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his son, Michael Santos; his daughter, Lindsay Santos; his granddaughter, Kristen Bryant; and his great grandson, Franklin Bryant.
