Obituary:

Clara M. Johnson went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 13, 2012. Clara was born the daughter of Walter and Laura Stokes on June 27, 1920, in Allen, Oklahoma. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl J. Johnson, and her grandson Michael Alan Powers. Clara is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Joe Quarterman of Fair Oaks Ranch and Laura and Jim Herbster of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Clara and Earl were married February 24, 1940, in Erick, Oklahoma. They lived there many years before moving to Pryor, Oklahoma to raise their family after which they moved back to Erick. After her husband passed away, Clara moved to Tulsa to be close to her daughters. She lived at Country Club of Woodland Hills Retirement for twelve years. Then she moved to Boerne to Heritage Place Assisted Living where she lived the last three years.

Clara was a devoted wife and mother, a kind and gentle soul, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was always ready to help a friend or just listen. Her thoughts were always of others, never asking anything for herself. She was an avid reader and loved to sew. She loved the Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Erick and Pryor, Oklahoma and Parkview Baptist in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After moving to Boerne, she attended St. Mark Presbyterian Church.

A memorial will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Presbyterian Church. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Kendall County Women’s Shelter, PO Box 1087, Boerne, Texas 78006. Please note on donation that it is in memory of Clara Johnson.
