She was born on August 16, 1921, in Goldthwaite, TX to W.B. and Addie Summy. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost 50 years, Victor Phillip; her brothers Walter Summy and his wife Velma, Earl Summy and his wife Mina and his second wife Rachel, Weldon Summy, and Raymond Summy; her sisters Addie Fowler and her husband Cecil and Lillian Thorn and her husband Olin; her nephews Bruce Fowler, John Phillip, and Sidney Weidner; sister-in-law Erna Weidner and her husband Arthur; and brother-in-law Harold Phillip.

Nina is survived by her daughter Teresa McDaniel and her husband Dave; her son Jimmy Phillip and his wife Mavis; her grandchildren Matt, Jennifer, and Katie McDaniel and Jessica and Madeline Phillip; her sisters-in-law Alice Summy and Lois Phillip; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nina’s husband’s family has deep roots to Boerne with his great grandparents moving here before Boerne was even a town. His great grandfather was one of the contractors on the original courthouse. Nina taught school in Goldthwaite, Crystal City, and Marfa before finally moving to Boerne to teach. That is when she met her future husband Victor. She retired from teaching when her daughter was born and became a homemaker. Victor and Nina moved out to the country to farm and ranch. Nina much preferred her time outside at the creek or picking rocks over being inside. She enjoyed living in the country but always loved a trip into town.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25, 2012, from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home.
