Mary Ann Perez, a lifelong resident of Boerne, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012, in Boerne. She was 73 years old. Mary Ann was born in Boerne on December 5, 1938, to Joe and Annie Montes. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rudy Perez, Jr., and her brothers Roy, Lonjino, and Martin Montes.
Mary Ann graduated from Boerne High School, Class of ’58. She was a long-standing member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Crusader’s Club since it was founded in 1978. She held the title of President for two terms. She was married 22 years to Rudy until his death in 1983 when he was killed in an automobile accident. Mary Ann worked for the Boerne Independent School District for 26 years. Although she retired, she continued to work for some of her “special people.”
Mary Ann enjoyed working with her plants. She was the most loving and hardworking woman you could ever meet. She was a friend to most everyone she met. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and being a part of her grandchildren’s lives.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Dolores Ann Valenzuela and her husband Joe of Comfort; her son Rudy Perez, III of Boerne; her daughter Corrina Perez of Boerne; and her daughter Valerie Montemayor and her husband Bryan of Boerne; her sister Virginia Espinoza of Boerne, her brother Paul Montes of Boerne; her precious grandchildren John Paul Valenzuela of Boerne, Jessie Valenzuela and his wife Robyn of Boerne, Joe Valenzuela of Plano, Valarie Valenzuela of Boerne, Christopher Frausto and his wife Katelyn of Kerrville, Felicia Etheridge and her husband Mark of Waring, Joseph Canizales of Boerne, Ray Canizales of Boerne, and Tyler Montemayor of Boerne. Mary Ann was blessed with 7 great grandchildren: Paulie and Sophia Valenzuela, Aubrie and Aidyn Valenzuela, Brooklyn Frausto, and Jarrod and Ella Ethridge.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
