Obituary:

Ray C. Corder was born August 17, 1927, in Electra, TX. He went to his heavenly home September 9, 2011.

Ray married the love of his life, Clotile Thompson, in 1951. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in June. He served honorably in the Navy and Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. After his military service, he began a teaching career. Ray loved his job and was a wonderful educator for over forty years, influencing many young people who stayed in touch with him throughout his life. Besides teaching, Ray had a love for football. He enjoyed refereeing football and especially enjoyed working with the Houston Oilers for over thirty years.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Clotile, his daughter Debbie Etheredge and her husband Bural of Boerne, and his son Ray, Jr. and his wife Kim of San Antonio. Ray, fondly known as Papa, had six grandchildren who adored him; Amy Etheredge Elam (David), Katie Etheredge Deal (Troy), Zach Etheredge, Kortnie Corder Thomas (Ryan), Ross Corder, and Ashton Corder. He had seven great grandchildren and counting……Nathan, Natalie, and Nick Elam, Ansleigh Deal, Chloe and Tucker Meeks, and Tye and Lane Thomas. Ray is also survived by a brother, Lloyd C. Corder and his wife Pat, and a large extended family.

Ray’s legacy is left behind in the family that Clotile and he built. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved having his family all together, whether in their motor home with the grandkids or around the dinner table at their house in Pearland. Ray created life long memories for his family to hold on to. He leaves behind his earthly treasures, so that he might receive his heavenly treasures. He loved the Lord and taught his family to love the Lord and love each other. For that, we are grateful. He will live on in our hearts always until we meet with him again.
