Obituary:

Rebecca Burke Yoder, 56, was released from her long and arduous struggle with cancer on the night of August 17, 2011. Born February 10, 1955, she was born and raised a California girl. She moved to Texas with her family- husband Randy and daughters Natalie and Allison- where she was soon introduced to the wonders of the plant world. She was an active participant and former President of the Native Plant Society of Texas (Boerne chapter) and saved many a plant from construction sites. In recent years, she also worked for the Boerne Public Library as the techie; she loved libraries and books almost as much as she did plants. She had the loudest sneeze you ever heard, an unbridled laugh, and a quirky sense of humor. We’ll miss you Mom, but we are so happy you’re not suffering any longer. We’ll always remember you in your robe and mud boots, muttering to yourself as you sipped a cup of coffee, or singing opera as you played the piano with a glass of wine in one hand at Christmas. Hopefully you’re somewhere eating chicken broccoli casserole, tissues stuffed in your pockets, tending to a big beautiful garden.
