Betty L. Asher left this earth to be reunited with our Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at the age of 80. She was born on May 14, 1931, in Leon Springs to Louise and Samuel Wood.

Betty was a loving and kind-hearted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who spent her life caring for our family. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and she was a wonderful cook. She was a founding member of St. Mark Presbyterian Church of Boerne. Her faith and love of Jesus was only equaled by her love for our family. Her surviving family will be left with countless fond memories of holidays, traditions, and the special individual moments shared with each of us. Betty inspired us to never stop living and to never give up hope. She fought courageously for her life until the very end. We will remember her as a loving woman of great strength and godly character.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 48 years, Sid Asher; her sister Mary Elizabeth Lauer; and her brother Kenneth Wood. She is survived by her daughter Betty Diane Rhodes and her husband Bob of Fair Oaks Ranch, her son Thomas Asher and his wife Carol of Fischer, and her grandchildren Brian and Mark Asher of Fischer.

The family would like to thank Dr. McRae and Amedisys Hospice employees for the services and loving care for our mother and all the family and friends that kept her in their prayers.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Presbyterian Church of Boerne. Interment will be a private family ceremony at Boerne Cemetery.
