Obituary:

Mervin LeRoy Russell went to be with his Lord and Savior after a long illness on July 27, 2011. He was born in Bloomington, IN to Dorothy Mae and Rev. Earl Stanley Russell on August 16, 1932. Mervin is preceded in death by his parents and his brother David Russell.

Merv was a Godly man who loved his family beyond measure. His walk with God was so special that it could be seen by all. One of his greatest joys was being a greeter, along with his wife and daughter, at Oak Hills Church. Merv never knew a stranger and was loved by many.

Mervin is survived by his loving and devoted wife Kathryn; his daughters Patty Russell, Stephanie Norris, Vicki Wilson, and Cathy Morris; his sons Scot Funderburg and Dain Funderburg; his daughters-in-law Amy Funderburg and Tara Funderburg; his son-in-law Chad Norris; and his bud Mark Katzer. He was blessed with his grandchildren: Crystal, Andrew, Corie, Ashley, Bradley, Matthew, Thomas, Julianne, Emily, Travis, Candace, Aaron, and Tevin.

A Visitation will be held Friday, July 29, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at St. John Lutheran Historic Chapel (217 E. Rosewood Ave., Boerne) on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at 10 a.m. The service will be presided over by Mervin’s nephew, Rev. Kent Russell. Interment will follow at Boerne Cemetery.
