Obituary:

David Lance Carpenter passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, in San Antonio at the age of 50. He was born in Houston on November 7, 1960, to Claudine and Neil Carpenter. He is preceded in death by his parents.

David is survived by his three brothers and two half sisters; Neil Bow Carpenter of Comfort, Dr. William Carpenter of Dallas, Scott Carpenter of St. Louis, MO, Punch Haring of Wyomissing, PA, and Judy Lierman of Houston. He is also survived by longtime family friend, Steve Kitchen of Boerne.

David’s family moved to Kerrville in 1970. David lived in Kerrville with his mom until 1994 when they both moved to San Antonio. David was a tireless worker. David worked for the Kerrville H-E-B for many, many years. Once in San Antonio, he worked for Albertsons for several years. Next, he worked for Mike Hollaway Custom Homes for about seven years. After that, David enjoyed working at his favorite store, Bass Pro Shop. He started there when the store opened in San Antonio. He was an Employee of the Month and was one of the longest, active employees they had.

David's best friend was his mother, Claudine Carpenter. Challenged with her passing in 2006, David continued on and found strength in his family, friends, and work. David never complained. He made many friends at work and in his travels, especially fishing and hunting friends. There was never a more serious and dedicated outdoorsman than David. He essentially created a fishing and hunting museum in his home. He fished and hunted in most of the southwest and Mexico. David was liked by all and well respected for his dedication and loyalty.

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, June 19, 2011, at 2 PM at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home.
