Janet "Jenny" Wilma Stolte Finch passed away in San Antonio on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at the age of 78. She was born in San Antonio, on Aug. 31, 1932, to Lawrence and Brent Stolte. Jenny was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Evelyn Wyble.
Jenny is survived by her adoring husband of 56 years, Kenneth Finch of Boerne; her son Scott Finch of Boerne; her daughter Donna Lee Koenig of Boerne; and her sister Barbara Gliddon of Kansas City, Mo. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Laura, Allyson, Anne, Max, Tony and Angie; and one great-grandchild, Madison.
Jenny and Kenneth moved from San Antonio to the Boerne area in 1989. They had been life-long residents of San Antonio. Jenny was loved by everyone who knew her. Her happiness and beautiful smile endeared her to everyone. As an artist, she portrayed her Christian faith in her unique paintings which were covered in articles in San Antonio newspapers. Jenny's devotion to her parents and aunt restricted her art activities, but she did exhibit several years through 2008 at the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church annual art show. She accepted invitations to exhibit her work in art galleries and shows in San Antonio, Houston, Austin and Pasadena, Calif. At Brackenridge High School and Trinity University, she was recognized for her art and her leadership. At Brackenridge in 1950, she was editor-in-chief of "La Retama," the school's yearbook. Her academic achievements merited her membership in several honor societies including National Honor Society. Before graduating from Trinity University in 1954, she was elected to the student court, the student council and the student union board. Twice, she was elected to be class princess and Most Beautiful. The Art Department awarded her a Coppini medal for her art. Jenny was one of only 13 students selected from her class for recognition in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. In 1965, the San Antonio Auxiliary of Certified Public Accountants elected Jenny as its president. She was a member of Iota Zeta Chi sorority in San Antonio, attending monthly luncheons until physically handicapped two years ago. Jenny's devotion to her family was the greatest possible. She considered herself first and foremost a homemaker. She nurtured her children and grandchildren with love and happiness. They all adored her for this. For her parents, her aunt, and her mother- and father-in-law, she was with them in their final years, giving them the love they deserved and making them comfortable and as worry-free as possible. During her 56 years of marriage to Kenneth, they shared unmatched love and happiness throughout his military service in the Marine Corps, in their work, in their extensive travels, and with their families.
