Obituary:

Joseph Bailey Montgomery, 82, passed away on September 9, 2010, in Boerne. He was born to John Bailey and Nancy Amelia Montgomery on November 6, 1927.

Joe was born in San Angelo and raised in Eldorado, Texas and moved to Boerne in 1955. He was a giving man who devoted his life to helping others. After serving in the United States Army, he spent 36 years as a state trooper with the Texas Highway Patrol. Everyone always said he was the most polite trooper as he would hand you a ticket with a smile on his face. He was also a Mason with the Kendall Masonic Lodge and a member of the Boerne Lions Club. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Boerne, a former president of the Boerne PTA, and a former president and director for the Kendall County Fair Association. Joe loved to hunt and fish, and he spent as much time as he could at the coast or the lake. At his home in Boerne, you would find him out back tinkering in his tool shed or working in the yard. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and we were all blessed to have him in our lives.

Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nora Louise; daughter Nancy Kay Chase and her husband Steve; daughter Jo Beth Nye and her husband Todd; grandchildren Summer Lyons and her husband Steve and their son Chase, Spencer Chase and his wife Valerie, and Mackenzie Kamerlander and her husband Michael.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 2-3 pm at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 pm with graveside service following at the Boerne cemetery.
