David Walter Ribar passed away on Friday, July 9, 2010, in San Antonio, TX at the age of 74. He was born the youngest of eight children on November 19, 1935, in North Bergen, NJ to John and Anna Ribar.
David is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cindy; children David C. Ribar and his wife Catherine of Greensboro, NC, Cheryl Rodenfels and her husband Clint of Boerne, TX, Melissa Brothers and her husband Brian of Boerne, TX, and John Ribar and his wife Becky of San Diego, CA. He was blessed with four grandchildren: David T. and Matthew Ribar, Quinnlan Goernert, and Logan Brothers. He is also survived by three sisters, Emily Schmidig, Gloria Cotte, and Joan Pierce of Lodi, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
David was a Navy Veteran on the USS Intrepid. He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He received Masters Degrees from the University of Southern California and Virginia Tech. He was a Communications Engineer and retired from the Federal Government. David loved fishing and enjoyed traveling with his family.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010, from 5-7 PM at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Leon Springs. Interment will be later that afternoon at 2:30 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
