Obituary:

William Gammon Davis III "Sonny" passed away on May 18, 2010, in Boerne, Texas. He was born on October 3, 1932, in San Antonio, Texas to Gammon and Billie Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 56 years, Bennie Carole. He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Davis of Rockledge, Florida and DeDe Pomeroy and her husband Brad of Englewood, CO. He also is survived by two brother-in-laws, Joe Gresham and his wife Lois of Medford, Oregon and Gary Gresham and his wife Peggy of Spring Branch, Texas. Sonny was blessed to have four grandchildren, Kal and Kate Krueger of San Antonio, Texas and Max and Molly Pomeroy of Englewood, Colorado who will miss their "Pop" greatly. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many long time friends.

Sonny joined the Army in 1952 and served two years in the Korean War. After he was discharged, he went to work at the San Antonio Light and then Clark Printing Company. In 1963, he purchased his uncle’s half of the Boerne Star and joined his mother and father as editor and publisher until it was sold in 1978. The family owned and operated The Boerne Star for 78 years. He continued to own and operate the Boerne Printing Company until 1986 and then he retired to "Cederland" and became a rancher for the next 24 years.

A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 1, 2010, from 5-7 PM at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home in Boerne. A service is set for Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Boerne. Graveside service will follow at the Boerne Cemetery and then a reception will follow at the Methodist Church.
