Dorothy Lee Menn went to join her beloved Jesus on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at the age of 86. She was born on September 4, 1923, in San Marcos to Thomas Allen and Minnie Amarinthia Grace Wood. They precede her in death. She married Walter Menn and they received his draft notice the day they returned from their honeymoon. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. They lived in Leon Springs and then moved to Kerrville in 1980. They lacked two hours of being married 54 years when Walter passed away. She is also preceded by 1 sister and 7 brothers.

Dorothy raised vegetables and chickens and kept her family well fed . She enjoyed painting birdhouses and watching the birds come to her feeder in her flower garden.

Dorothy is survived by her children; Janet Menn of Kerrville, Kathy McElroy of Live Oak, Florida, and John Menn and his wife Barbara of Bandera. Her grandchildren are Katherine McIntosh of Kerrville, Jackie Harris of Canyon Lake, Mandy Bernard of Kerrville, John Alan McElroy of Florida, and Debbie McElroy of San Antonio. She was blessed to also have great grandchildren Violet Davila of Kerrville and Derrick Greer of Canyon Lake.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 24, 2010, at 2PM at the First Christian Church in Kerrville. A burial at Fort Sam National Cemetery will be Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at 1:45PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas.
