Anne McNiel Castleman passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the age of 86. She dedicated her entire life to her family and those she loved. She has always been adored for the unconditional love and kindness she has shown to others, her keen sense of humor, open-mindedness, generosity and mischievousness, as well as her fun-loving personality. She was always such a strong, beautiful person, both inside and out. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel that they were the most special, loved person in the world. Her deep faith and love for God took her bravely through many difficult times, and has been instilled in her family. All that have known her say that God must have had a need for a special angel and called her home. She was a loving wife to her husband of 68 years, the sweetest mother, "Mimi", sister and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin D. and Mae Middleton McNiel; by siblings Eva, Roland, Cleber and Wilford McNiel, and her son, Joe Castleman, Jr. and son-in-law, Thomas Cook. She is survived by her husband, Joe Castleman, Sr.; by daughters, Princess Cook, LaDawn Shryer and Tami Terry and their husbands, G.P. Shryer and Joe Terry; by grandchildren, Joseph Castleman, III, and wife, Deborah Castleman, Hunter McGinty, Colt Crouch, Travis Terry and Maverick Terry; by great-grandchild, Joseph Castleman, IV; by brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Yvonne McNiel; by sister, Eunice Coldiron, and by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at the Boerne Cemetery in Boerne, Texas, as 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, followed by a feast to celebrate her life for family and friends at the home of her daughter, Tami Terry, on the Guadalupe River, to which all attendees are invited.
