James E. Birdsong, affectionately known as "Birdie" by his friends, and Grandpa Bumblebee by his granddaughter Anna, passed away Jan. 14, 2010. James was born July 8, 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp Sept. 1, 1967 and was honorably discharged July 31, 1968 with two Purple Hearts, a National Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. He is survived by his daughter Desiree Birdsong and granddaughter Anna Birdsong, father John Birdsong, brother Jack Birdsong, and Uncle Henry Birdsong as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends. James was a loving, caring man whom never complained and had the utmost respect and love of his fellow men, women, and friends. The high point of his life was his daughter's graduation from Houston Art Institute with honors in Nov. of 2009. He will be dearly missed by us all. Visitation will be held Tues. evening from 5-7 PM at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home in Boerne, TX. A graveside service will be held Wed. Jan. 20, 2010 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX at 10:15 AM.
