Russell E. Davis, 84, of Comfort, Texas, died on November 18, 2009. He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Trussell of Boerne, Texas, and Phyllis Teague of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother and four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Davis was born in Nail, Arkansas, on December 12, 1924, and grew up in Deer, Arkansas. He often recounted stories of his family’s hardscrabble existence during the Great Depression and of his years when he worked itinerate jobs. Later, Mr. Davis worked in route sales in Houston and lived a very simple life. He was an affectionate father and grandfather. His daughters remember him as being eccentric, and they especially enjoyed his quick, dry wit, and his singing of old country songs around the house.

Mr. Davis’s family will hold a small memorial service at the Cibolo Nature Center Auditorium Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 10:30 AM in Boerne, Texas.
