Jose Carlos Gracian, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 26, 2009. Jose Carlos was born on November 4, 1927, in Sahuayo, Michoacán, Mexico to Angelina Zepeda Gracian and Pedro Gracian. He was one of nine children.

Jose Carlos moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1953 where he began to learn English by going to the movies. He achieved his US Citizenship in 1966. Jose Carlos retired from Ford Motor Company in the mid-80’s after 34 years. He enjoyed watching old Western movies. He moved to Boerne, Texas in 2004 to escape the chilly winters of Detroit, Michigan and to be closer to his family.

Jose Carlos was survived by his son Carlos Joseph and daughter-in-law Vicki and their children Angelina Marie, Andrea Jane, and Carlos Joseph II of Boerne and also his younger son Peter Gerard and his wife Mary of Indiana.

A memorial gathering will be held for Jose Carlos on Friday, October 30, 2009, at 4:00 PM at the Longbranch Saloon located on Main St. in Boerne. Jose Carlos had expressed that he would like his remains to be set free in the sky. Carlos and Angelina will carry out that wish in a memorial skydive in San Marcos, Texas.
