Edna Haufler left this world on Thursday, May 28, 2009, in Comfort, Texas. She was 94 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilmar Haufler. She was also preceded in death by her parents August and Alma Rusch, her brother Erno Rusch and her sister Bella Truston.
Mrs. Haufler is survived by her daughter Eileen Stahl and her husband Lloyd of Boerne, her son Duane Haufler and his wife Rhonda of Boerne, her grandson Greg Stahl and his wife Edith of Austin, and her granddaughter Caroline Haufler of Boerne. Also surviving Edna are her sisters-in-laws Emmie Flach of Comfort, Adeline Pankratz of Comfort, and Billie Haufler of San Antonio. Several nieces and nephews survive her as well.
Mrs. Haufler’s grandparents immigrated to Galveston, Texas in 1870 from Germany. Edna was born on November 8, 1914, and raised on a farm on the outskirts of Comfort. She graduated with honors in 1933 from the Comfort schools and went on to Draughon’s Business College in San Antonio. She married Hilmar Haufler of Welfare, Texas in 1936, and they were married a little over 60 years when he passed away. The pair settled in Boerne in 1941 and she became a homemaker. She did all of her own sewing for herself and her children. She was an active volunteer for all of her children’s activities. She was active in Kendall County Extension Groups for 50 years plus and she was a charter member of the Boerne Homemakers Club. Edna loved music, sports, and her flowers and yard.
A visitation for Mrs. Haufler will be Sunday, May 31, from 5-7PM at the Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Monday, June 1, at 2PM at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home with the interment following at Boerne Cemetery.
