Ellen “Ella” Mae Fischer passed away at the age of 70 on Thursday, May 7, 2009, in Boerne after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born in Kerrville on June 6, 1938. She was preceded in death by her parents Felix and Stella Sprott.

She lived most of her life as a homemaker here in Boerne. Before she became sick, she enjoyed reading, cooking, and working in her yard. Ellen looked forward to her trips to the family deer leases and dancing with Henry every chance she could. She loved her family so much and was happy anytime she could be with them.

Ella Mae was happily married for 53 years to Henry Fischer. She is also survived by her only daughter and three sons; Vickie Wiatrek and her husband Roger of Stockdale, Roy Fischer and his wife Diane of Boerne, Rickey Fischer and his wife Sandra of Rockport, and Larry Fischer and his wife Denise of Boerne. She leaves behind one sister, Barbara Sprott Smith of Odessa. The lights of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had 9 granchildren; Ryan, Brandon, Bryan, Michael, Brent, Matthew, Karli, Tanner and Bailey. She also had 3 great-grandchildren; McKenzie, Magelyn, and Kali.

Visitation will be from 6-8PM with a Rosary being held at 7PM on Sunday, May 10, at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be Monday, May 11, at 10AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Boerne Cemetery.
