God saw that you were getting tired, so he put his arms around you and whispered, Come With Me, Evelyn. On February 11, 2009, Evelyn Louise Werner (Klesel) went home with Him, at the age of 80.
Evelyn was born on September 13, 1928 to Henry and Martha Klesel in Moulton, TX. She was one of three children.
Evelyn was baptized on September 30, 1928, celebrated her first communion May 4, 1936, and was Confirmed on October 18, 1942. She attended school at St. Ludmila’s Academy, graduating on May 12, 1946.
Evelyn married Joe C. Werner on October 17, 1947. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Boerne where she became a stay at home mom to their four children. She was an outstanding cook and baker. Her pies and homemade bread, along with her beans and dumplings were out of this world. We always looked forward to Fridays. After spending all of her time taking care of her children, Mom decided to go to work at Winn’s in Boerne. She worked there for many years until it closed. She was known to many as the “Material Lady” at Winn’s. After taking some time off, she went to work at Family Services for Ann Reissig. She started out working in the mornings and volunteering her time in the afternoon. After many years of service, she retired. After some fifty years in the same home, she moved to the Boerne Heritage Place, and after 18 months, with the onset of Alzheimer’s, she moved to Town and Country Manor Nursing Home in Boerne.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law Jack Sams. She is survived by her children, Jane Sams of Helotes, David Werner and wife Anna of Leon Springs, Paulette Reynolds and husband Frank of Katy, and Joanne Day and husband Trey of Boerne. Grandchildren Tyler, Danielle and Hunter Day, Carter Reynolds, Damien, Eric and Chad Pechacek, and eight great-grandchildren. Two brothers Henry Klesel and wife Della of Kirby and William Klesel and wife Joyce of Yoakum. Along with many relatives and friends.
A rosary for the family will be conducted at 4:30 PM at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home with visitation to follow from 5-7 PM on Friday, February 13, 2009. Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church on Saturday February 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at the Boerne Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clinton Vogt, Michael Fincke, Gavin Waldeck, Larry Schwope, Carter Reynolds, Tyler Day Hunter Day, and Chad Pechacek.
